Dr. Iris Gomero is a dedicated educator with over twenty five years of experience spanning classroom teaching, and school and district-level leadership roles. She currently serves as Superintendent of Windham Public Schools. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico and is deeply proud of her native language and heritage. She began her career as a TESOL and Spanish teacher before transitioning into leadership roles.
Dr. Gomero has championed policies and programs that improve equitable access to a high-quality education for all students. She has worked to create inclusive learning environments where diverse linguistic, racial, and cultural identities are valued and where all students, regardless of their background, have access to the experiences, resources and support they need to thrive.
Dr. Gomero’s academic background reflects her commitment to lifelong learning. She holds a BA in Elementary Education from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, an MA in English Literature from Trinity College, a Sixth Year Certificate in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Central Connecticut State University.
