Dr. Daisy Torres-Hill
Past-President (2022-2024)

Dr. Daisy Torres-Hill serves as the Assistant Dean and Certification Officer in the School of Education at Central Connecticut State University, where she oversees clinical teaching experiences for pre-service teachers, supports PK–12 district partnerships, and leads educator certification processes. In addition to her administrative role, she serves as an adjunct professor and leadership coach, preparing and mentoring the next generation of teachers and leaders.

Most recently, Dr. Torres-Hill served as Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning for Hartford Public Schools. She co-designed the Dual Language Academy at Dwight Bellizzi School and during her leadership, more than 800 Hartford students earned the Seal of Biliteracy, recognizing their proficiency in two or more languages. She also co-developed the Hartford Principal Leadership Academy (HPLA) and the Hartford Assistant Principal Leadership Academy (HAPLA), two "grow-your-own" leadership development programs created to cultivate and retain exceptional school leaders within the district. She spearheaded the recruitment and retention of 18 teachers from Puerto Rico through the innovative Paso a Paso teacher recruitment initiative and four international teachers from the Dominican Republic through the Caribbean Connections teacher exchange program.

Dr. Torres-Hill is bilingual in English and Spanish and brings more than 25 years of experience serving students and families in urban public schools. She received the Outstanding Educator Leadership Award from the Connecticut Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (CALAS), the Curriculum Associates/ALAS $10,000 Scholarship, the Above & Beyond Award from Read to a Child, and the 2025 Service Award from Hartford Public Schools.

She earned her Doctor of Education from the University of Connecticut, where her research examined the lived experiences of Latina superintendents in the Northeast and the systemic factors contributing to their underrepresentation in educational leadership.
